The William Saroyan International Prize for Writing is a biennial literary award for fiction and nonfiction in the spirit of William Saroyan by emerging writers. It was established in 2003 by the William Saroyan Foundation and Stanford University Libraries to "encourage new or emerging writers rather than recognize established literary figures.” The Foundation underwrites the prize in partnership with Stanford. Forever Saroyan, LLC, founded in 2011 by Charles Janigian, is dedicated to the life and works of William Saroyan, and the members of the Minasian-Saroyan family. They are committed to preserving, presenting, and interpreting the works of the family through the Forever Saroyan website, foreversaroyan.com, The Place of Places YouTube series, and various special publications.
