| The William Saroyan
Festival 2002, Fresno, is a premier celebration honoring Fresno's
own Native Son, William Saroyan, commencing Thursday, February 28, 2002.
It will showcase the life, times and
artistic talents of the Pulitzer Prize winner
through a number of events including theatrical and musical productions,
plays, panel discussions, tours, exhibits and contests. All of
the activities will be centered in
the City of Fresno at a number of locations,
including: the Fresno Art Museum; The Fresno Metropolitan Museum
the Saroyan Theater at the City's
Convention Center; the Good Company Players Theater;
Fresno State University; Fresno City College; City Hall.

The Festival is being organized by a 50 member volunteer committee, Mr. Larry Balakian, Chairman, in association with the Stanford University Libraries and the William Saroyan Foundation, the latter established by Mr. Saroyan in 1966 as a federal and state chartered nonprofit organization. Funding for the two month long event is being solicited through auxiliary events, fundraising parties, corporate, individual, public and private sources.
